On Tuesday the 12th of May, first years took part in our annual sports day. Proudly displaying their class colours, which consisted of 1A’s in blue, red for 2A and yellow for 3A. With the help of class tutors and fifth year YSI Advocates, the event brought unity, encouragement and fun for the three first year classes.
Blessed with the sunshine, the day swiftly began with a quick warm up run in the Palace Park followed by relays and 100, 200 and 400 meter races in the school’s tennis and basketball court. Shortly after, the students reunited with their teams to play hockey, football and basket.
The day also consisted of pass-the-hoola-hoop, egg and spoon race, bat and ball, wheelbarrow race and the three legged race in which the students cheered each other on with their class chants and a full round of excitement.
The eventful day ended with an appreciation speech from the school principal, Ms. Cosgrove, for the student’s hard work and willingness to participate. A big thank you to Quinn’s shop for all the sponsorship of this wonderful event.
