Green Schools Team Attend the Green Schools Expo 2018

On Thursday the 22nd of February, the Green Schools committee and a number of First Year Students travelled to the RDS in Dublin for the Green Schools Expo. The exhibition was a wonderful opportunity for students to talk to various environmental organisations and students from various schools around the country.

All of the exhibition stands were engaging and interactive and the girls enjoyed themselves thoroughly participating in the many games and activities to help them better understand the environment.

With organisations such as Irish Aid, Irish Water, SEAI and Weee Ireland along with various primary and secondary schools, the students got a range of insights into other Green Schools campaigns and the work being done also outside of schools to protect and nurture the environment.

The girls thoroughly enjoyed the day and found it very beneficial to their learning and work on the Green Schools committee.

Greens Schools Water Ambassador training day

Some of the Green Schools committee members attended the Greens Schools Water Ambassador day in Roscommon at the Abbey Hotel. The day included entertaining, descriptive presentations.

We did lots of interactive experiments to imagine how water reacts to chemicals for example. We also visited the local Water Treatment Plant, where we got an insight on how water is treated. At the end of the day, we got Water Ambassador Hoodies and goodie bags with more information about the programme.

A great day was had by all
