Our class went to a workshop in Brigit’s Gardens in Pollagh Rosscahill, Co. Galway for a CSPE Action Project where we did different activities that all had something to do with the Sustainable Development Goals.
When we arrived, we were greeted by the very friendly staff. Our class got split into groups, and then into ‘families’ where we did many educational and fun activities, we learnt a lot about gender equality and working on farms and the importance of growing our own food.
In the second half of the workshop, we had to imagine what it was like to be refugees, and got to see what it was like to cross a border in a scaled down version. We also learnt how to make a tippy-tap which is used to wash hands in refugee camps in order to stop the spread of diseases.
We all really enjoyed the workshop because it was very interesting and the activities were great fun. We all felt we learnt a lot from the guides who explained everything clearly and they were very nice. We also discovered some of the ways we can get to achieve the development goals. As a class we got all the activities done well and every ‘family’ worked together.
We would recommend going there because we all had a great time and lots of fun, and we hope anyone else who goes does too.
